Poem: I stand before You, O Christ, My King

98

I stand before You, O Christ, My King

I am held before You, O Christ, My King,
In my mother’s arms and dressed in white,
I have joined your Holy family and freed from sin,
Keep me safe both day and night.

I have sinned before You, O Christ, My King,
I have fallen miserably in my task,
To obey and love You in all I do,
Your mercy and forgiveness I humbly ask

I kneel before You, O Christ, My King,
Unworthy, yet eager – Your Sacred Body, to receive
Feed my soul with this Most Sacred gift,
Stay within me, sustain me, please never leave.

I stand before You, O Christ, My King,
As the armoured soldier You want me to be,
Anointed with Chrism and bestowed with the Spirit,
Courage, conviction and Your truth be with me.

I am joined before You, O Christ, My King,
In the Blessed union of husband and wife,
Bless us, strengthen us and keep us united,
As we, together, start a new chapter in life.

I am sick, before You, O Christ, My King,
Please free me from my pain,
Give me the strength and endurance,
To carry this cross for Your Almighty gain

I am lying before You, O Christ My King,
In the silence, in the still,
My soul has left my earthly body,
As predetermined by Your Holy Will

I stand before You, O Christ, My King,
Have mercy on me, I pray,
Let me enter Your Kingdom of Heaven,
On this, my judgement day.
